Leading the Market with the Largest Range of Bale-Feeding Machinery

November 1, 2026
New for winter 2026: the Blaney XCore Bale Feeder brings mechanised bale feeding within reach of more farms, with prices starting from £4,990 plus VAT

From smaller livestock farms to large commercial feedlots, we now offer seven specialist bale-feeding solutions covering different bales, vehicles, buildings, workloads and budgets.

We are launching the new XCore Bale Feeder for winter 2026, expanding our offering to the largest and most comprehensive range of specialist bale-feeding machinery available.

With prices starting from £4,990 plus VAT, the XCore has been developed for farms handling firm, consistently shaped round bales through a straightforward tractor-mounted or loader-mounted setup.

It joins the proven Bale Feeder X6 and X6L and the flagship Forager X10, X10L, X10W and X10R, creating seven specialist solutions for everything from straightforward tractor feeding to wet and misshapen bales, high stacks, barriers, raised troughs, mixer wagons and demanding commercial workloads.

Seven specialist solutions. Every bale-feeding need covered. One Blaney standard.

A bale-feeding solution for every farm

Firm or misshapen. Silage, wholecrop, haylage, hay or straw. Tractor, loader or telehandler. Feeding through a narrow passageway, over a barrier, into a raised trough or directly into a mixer wagon.

No two farms have exactly the same baled forage type, cutting system, handling and storage arrangements, buildings or feedout setup. Even this year, we have had customers in Ireland and the UK purchasing machines for summer field feeding.

That is why we have developed a complete family of specialist bale feeders and unrollers rather than expecting one machine to suit every bale, vehicle, building, workload and budget.

While the Blaney name has become synonymous with feeding round bales, we have built our reputation on reliable, easy-to-use machinery, practical innovation and machines that are still working hard 20 years later.

Farmer-led. Engineering-driven. Blaney-built.

Our knowledge of bale feeding does not come from market research alone.

The Blaney team includes farmers who understand the job first-hand, experienced engineers who know where agricultural machinery carries its load and skilled people who have spent decades designing, manufacturing, testing and improving farm equipment.

We understand what it means to feed livestock when the yard is tight, the ground is uneven, the bale is wet, daylight hours are limited and the next ten jobs are already waiting.

That combination of farming experience and engineering expertise has driven more than 30 years of Blaney innovation.

Built by people who understand the job

For us, innovation is not about adding complexity for the sake of a specification sheet. It begins with a practical problem and asks how machinery can make the job faster, easier, safer and more dependable.

Sean Blaney, founder of Blaney Agri, said:

“We are farmers and engineers ourselves. We know not all bales are the same, depending on the season, forage type, storage method, handling care and even the wrapping. We do not have to imagine what it is like when the passage is narrow or there is nobody else available to help. We understand the job because we have done it and helped other farmers feed bales in numerous countries around the world, from Iceland to New Zealand.

“That farming experience tells us where the problems are. Our engineering experience allows us to solve them.

“Some of our best developments have come from looking at an everyday frustration and asking: What is making the farmer’s job difficult? Where is time being lost? What happens when the bale is far from perfect? How can one operator feed as quickly and safely as possible? Which features will provide genuine value every day?

“That has led to industry-leading developments that help the tractor operator load the bale first time, keep a misshapen or partly burst bale under control, reach over a barrier or into a trough, or use a focused machine that more farms can afford.

“That is what innovation means to us. It has to make a real difference when the machine goes to work.”

A specialist machine for every bale-feeding requirement

A good, regularly shaped bale can be relatively straightforward to unroll. The real test comes when the bale is from the bottom of a stack; when chopped, leafy young grass is wet, soft, sagging or beginning to fall apart once unwrapped; or when the grass cutting date was missed because of bad weather and the forage is stemmy and tightly packed.

As the bale unwinds and becomes smaller, it can become softer and less stable. The machine must still turn it, retain it and place the feed under control without the operator continually clutching the tractor or reversing because the bale is rotating but not feeding out. We have spent two decades working to overcome and perfect solutions to these issues.

The farm’s wider setup also matters. A machine working through one bale a day of July-cut, unchopped forage in a narrow livestock passage faces a different job from one mounted on a telehandler and feeding ten bales a day of late-September MultiCut system forage into a mixer wagon.

Sean explained:

“A good, dry, 40% moisture bale made from well-wilted, second-cut midsummer silage is easy to feed. The real test of a bale unroller is what happens when the silage has not had optimal wilting time, or has had some rain before or after cutting, and this wetter bale has been stacked, is soft and is starting to lose its shape—or where the plastic is damaged by pests and there are mould patches.

“That is where the machine’s design, gearing, bale-retention and feedout system really matter. The machine must continue feeding consistently without continual stopping and starting, while preventing partly unrolled bales from being thrown out.

“We start by asking what the bales are actually like because that determines the machine. There is no value in selling a farmer capability they will never use, but there is also no value in buying a machine that does not have the capability they need, or is unsuited to the job, and finding its limits when conditions become difficult. That only adds more time and work when the machine was bought to reduce the workload and save time.”

Seven specialist Blaney bale-feeding solutions

That specialist knowledge now extends across seven distinct Blaney solutions:

  • Bale Feeder XCore – a focused and accessible machine for straightforward feeding requirements
  • Bale Feeder X6 – the proven Blaney classic, having fed more than one million bales
  • Bale Feeder X6L – established X6 performance for loader and telehandler work
  • Forager X10 – bombproof premium control and ultimate reliability for demanding bales
  • Forager X10L – loader and telehandler versatility for high stacks, raised troughs and mixer wagons
  • Forager X10W – controlled feeding over barriers and around obstacles using a hydraulically adjustable wing
  • Forager X10R Bale Converter – untangles round bales into material for approximately 14 small square bales

Machines are offered in painted or galvanised finishes to suit different working conditions and budgets.

Depending on the selected model and configuration, the range provides solutions for feeding silage, wholecrop, haylage and hay, as well as rolling out straw for bedding and other farm uses.

New XCore makes Blaney quality accessible to more farms

The new XCore fills an important position within the Blaney range.

It has been developed for farmers who want to move away from slow, physically demanding manual feeding but do not require the X6’s additional specification or the X10’s advanced loading and difficult-bale capabilities.

The XCore is designed for firm, consistently shaped round bales and straightforward feeding requirements. Its focused specification includes:

  • Self-loading, one-tractor operation
  • Three-point-linkage or loader mounting
  • Direct hydraulic operation
  • Controlled bale feedout
  • Straightforward operation and maintenance
  • A focused frame and cradle design
  • Blaney product knowledge, genuine parts and after-sales support

Sean said:

“The XCore is about making high-quality bale feeding available to more farmers.

“We have taken what we have learned from years of developing bale feeders and focused it on the essential requirements of a farmer with good bales and a straightforward setup.

“It carries the Blaney name, so it has to perform the job it is designed to do properly. The difference is that the customer is not paying for additional capability or configurations their farm does not require.”

A self-loading bale feeder enables one operator to lift, carry and distribute a bale using one tractor and one machine.

Forage can be placed in a controlled swath, with the remaining bale retained for another group of livestock or the next feed. This reduces manual handling, uncontrolled piles of silage, feed contamination and wastage, as well as the number of machines and operators required.

Bale Feeder X6: almost 20 years of proven performance

The Bale Feeder X6 is the Blaney classic.

For almost 20 years, it has been used, tested and continually refined around the needs of livestock farmers. More than one million bales have now been fed using the X6.

Its high-torque hydraulic motor, proven chain running on hardened rollers, compact frame and self-contained bale lifter provide dependable everyday performance.

Guide points and uneven-length tines help the operator align and collect the cradle, while its compact dimensions allow it to work in restricted yards and narrower passages.

The X6L brings the same established performance to front-loader and telehandler operation.

Forager X10: innovation for the most demanding bales

At the top of the range, the Forager X10 was developed for all bale and forage types, including high-clover and wholecrop mixes. It continues to perform with the wet, heavy, tightly packed, soft and misshapen bales that expose the limitations of lighter machines, making it the choice for larger herds and commercial feedlots.

Its heavy-duty frame, reinforced crossbars, powerful high-torque motor and chain rated above 50,000N provide the strength needed to keep demanding forage moving for years.

A high enclosure, innovative triple-peak spikes and optional side rollers help retain heavy and misshapen bales throughout the feedout process. A wet-bale kit is also available for smoother operation with late-season bales or when baling conditions have been damp.

Easy Load Design: developed to load the bale first time

The X10 has also been designed to be the easiest bale unroller on the market to load.

Its Easy Load Design and specially arranged tines help the operator engage the bale cleanly, reducing repeated loading attempts, unnecessary manoeuvring and contact between the forage and the ground if the bale sags slightly after being removed from the stack.

Sean said:

“The Easy Load Design is one of the differences customers love about the X10. You line up, lift the bale and get it on first time.

“You are not setting it down and trying again, or re-spiking it and dragging forage through the yard, causing contamination and wasting time on every bale.”

The X10L extends this strength, retention and loading capability to front loaders and telehandlers. It is the ideal choice when bales are stacked or when feeding into raised troughs, diet feeders or mixer wagons.

The X10W adds a hydraulically adjustable fold-down offset wing, allowing forage to be placed over barriers, into troughs or feed bunks, or beyond other obstacles.

Proven by farmers

Specifications matter, but the true value of machinery is measured by what it changes on the farm.

County Westmeath farmer Oliver O’Grady said of his Forager X10:

“I farm part-time and when I get home, the last thing I want to do is spend time forking silage. I can honestly say that feeding silage has never been so easy.

“No matter what shape of bale, wet or dry, the Forager X10 never fails. The whole job now only takes minutes. Thanks, Blaney, and feck the fork!”

Scottish farmer Donald Menzies said the X10L had transformed his feeding routine:

“Before I got the Forager X10L, I had to wait at least two and a half hours a day on my diet feeder mixing, tying up my tractor and using a lot of fuel. Now, with the Forager X10L, I get all the feeding done in just over half an hour.”

These are the results our machinery is developed to deliver: less physical work, less time feeding, greater control, better use of forage and dependable performance season after season.

Long-term value backed by Blaney

Purchase price matters, particularly when farm budgets are under pressure, but the value of a Blaney bale feeder continues long after the invoice has been paid.

The XCore, X6 and X10 have been developed for different levels of work and investment. Each is backed by the same Blaney farming knowledge, engineering experience, genuine parts and after-sales support.

Sean concluded:

“Farmers should not have to fit their feeding system around one machine.

“We now have a Blaney solution for everything from straightforward tractor feeding to difficult bales and different forage types, larger herds, commercial feedlots, high stacks, mixer wagons and feeding over barriers.

“The release of the new XCore creates a more accessible starting point, while the wider range allows every farmer to choose the strength, control and capability their farm actually requires.”
